This product is a comprehensive guided reading kit for students reading between levels E-J, roughly the first grade level or ANY reader reading at the first grade level. This kit includes 30 one-page fiction "stories." This pack in environmentally friendly because the entire story is on one piece of paper. Unlike other early reading books where there's only 3-5 words per page, these stories have all the words on one page...no collating, no folding, no stapling. Each "story" revolves around a detailed piece of clipart with text that is heavily supported by the picture. In addition to the text, there are 5 pre-reading activities and post-reading activities to do with guided help. This product provides directions and details for a 5 day format per story, and/or a 30 minute lesson plan format per story. You pick, you choose what works best for you and your students. Do as many or as little activities per story as you wish. These activities require very little prep work on your part. It is definitely teacher-friendly in the prep time department...instead of no prep, let's say, easy prep. I even wrote the lower and higher level questions you should ask your students after reading, so you don't have to think of them. See, easy right?

These stories and reading activities are intended to be used for guided reading or any form of small group guided reading instruction *with* an adult, but are also perfect to include in your sub plans, to use as homework or as an assessment. While some of the reading activities could be done as independent work, that isn't really the intention, but you are certainly free to use these sheets *however* you wish in your classroom.
